PUHI — The ice cream snacks could not escape the excited eyes of the Girl Scouts from the Boys & Girls Club, Lihue, Thursday afternoon.
“This is the best part of the tour,” one Scout said, savoring her delicacy in the heat of the Hawaii Foodbank, Kauai Branch.
The Girl Scouts delivered 50 cases of Girl Scout Cookies to the food bank.
“This is part of our Gift of Caring,” said Shereen Ho‘opi‘i, the Girl Scouts membership and program service coordinator for Kauai. “Service permeates every aspect of our culture. In Girl Scouting, girls learn the value of giving back.”
Ho‘opi‘i said for various reasons, there are customers who do not want to buy cookies for themselves, or they only have a limited need. Through the Gift of Caring, they can give to others while supporting Girl Scouting at the same time.
“These cookies go directly to the food bank to support the agencies that help to feed those less fortunate than ourselves,” she said.
Charlotte Psaila, owner of CrossFit Kapaa, is hosting a competition from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Kapaa Inline Hockey Rink to raise funds for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Kauai. The event will feature teams from the different CrossFit gyms on the island.
