Erick T. S. Moon
Erick T. S. Moon, 72, passed peacefully surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on May 25, 2016 into the loving arms of our heavenly Father. He was born in Wahiawa, Oahu on Oct. 3, 1943. A beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He and his wife moved to Kauai in 1996 where he came to work at the Kauai Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. He then went into private practice and last retired with the State Public Defenders Office.
Erick is preceded in death by his father Duke Mann Moon; brother, Duke Moon; step-father, Joseph Han.
Erick is survived by his wife Donna; his children, Lynn (Jeff) McLaughlin of North Carolina, Reina Moon Correa of Mililani, Erick (Phyllis) Moon Jr. of Arizona, Courtney (DJ) Deguchi of Mililani; mother, Mary Han of Wahiawa; brother, Ronald T.Y. (Stella) Moon of Oahu; sister, Marylee (Rick) Baumann of Reno; 12 grandchildren, 2 great granddaughters; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and his cat Cookie.
A celebration of his life will be held at Kapaa United Church of Christ at 1315 Ulu St., Kapaa on Saturday, June 18, 2016 with visitation from 9 a.m. and services celebrated at 10 a.m.
Casual/Aloha Attire.

Barbara F. Funamura
Barbara F. Funamura of Koloa passed away at the age of 78 on May 12, 2016 at home. She was born in Lihue on April 1938 and was a nutritionists and entrepreneur as well as the originator of the “spam musubi.”
She is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Hanako Fujita; sons, Stanley and Daniel Funamura II; and sister Lurene Ota.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Dan Funamura; son, Mark of Koloa; daughter, Joni (Rodney) Funamura-Sasil of Lihue; grand-daughter, Justice Funamura-Sasil of Lihue; brother, Calvin (Arlene) Fujita of Wailua; sister, Linda Fujita of Honolulu; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of Barbara’s Life will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at the Hanapepe Hongwanji. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. with services to follow at 11 a.m.
Casual attire is suggested and flowers are being declined.

Shelben Pagala
Shelben Pagala passed away at the age of 67 on May 18, 2016. He was a retired cook.
He is survived by his step-mother, Adela Pagala; brothers, Kaipo Pagala, Jose Pagala Jr., Lesther Pagala, Brandon Pagala, Freddie (Julie) Patricio, and Danny Patricio; sister, Vicky (Chris) Dias; and numerous aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Private services were held.
