Wastewater officials responded to a sewage spill this afternoon at the county’s Port Allen pump station.
The overflow began about 12:45 p.m. and was contained at 1:15 p.m. Roughly 100 gallons of sewage is believed to have runoff into a storm drain along Waialo Road.
The state Department of Health, the state Department of Transportation, and nearby commercialtour operators were notified of the incident.
Personnel from the Public Works Wastewater Division have posted cautionary signs in the area.
The investigation into the cause of the spill continues.
