Nancy Kanna of the Rotary Club of Poipu said there are a lot of birthdays happening on Aug. 9. She’s on her way to Oregon, but will be back to share her birthday with Tom Gross of the Rotary Club of Poipu, and also Carol Kanna and Art Umezu.
Kudos to the Rotary Club of Kapaa (they had all the other Rotary Clubs helping, too!) on a great 28th annual Taste of Hawaii. Chef Guy Higa of the Kauai Marriott Resort and Beach Club said he’s been participating in all 28 Tastes.
Mark Bonilla (Sonia has a new home) had Glenn Dela Cruz from Honolulu helping him at Jamba Juice where they had Lime Dream (Mark said it’s lime, not orange) available, although Ron Wiley liked the push-ups, better. Bethany Hamilton makes an appearance, Thursday at the Kukui Grove Jamba Juice for autographs and a meet-and-greet from 4:30 p.m.
Johnette Chun said Friday is Flag Day when old, beat-up flags are properly retired. People needing to retire their flags can do so at the deposit box located in front of the Kauai Veterans Center.
