Carol Dean Bain
Carol Dean Bain passed away peacefully in Queen’s Medical Center, Honolulu, Hawaii on Monday, May 16, 2016, at the age of 64. She was born Oct. 2, 1951, in Stuttgart, Germany. Bain was a KIUC Board member, former KCC professor, community activist, grant writer, and media producer.
She is preceded in death by her parents Iola and Paul Bain.
Bain is survived by her husband Edward Coll, of Kauai; sisters, Paula Kneeskern of El Paso, TX, Claudia Tubbs of Clarksville, TN, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Carol’s Life will be held on Friday, June 24, 2016, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Kauai Veterans Center, 3215 Kapule Hwy, Lihue, Hawaii 96766. The family requests casual attire and In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Malie Foundation P.O. Box 13, Kapaa, Hawaii 96746.
Mrs. Kiyoko Shimokawa
Mrs. Kiyoko Shimokawa, 94, of Honolulu, died on May 18, 2016, at Palolo Chinese Home; formerly of Hanapepe, Kauai.
She was born in Koloa, Kauai on March 2, 1922, and was a retired pantry worker for Sheraton Poipu and a retired co-owner of OK Service Station.
She is survived by her daughters, Lucille H. Kirito, Gail K. Shimokawa and Lori L. Shimokawa-Caporus; brother, Thomas Koga (Nancy), brother-Henry Koga (Jean); sister, Yoshiko Okiura and Helen Oyama and four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Private services were held.
