NAWILIWILI — If Hokuala associates have their way, they want the red wagon overflowing with food.
Scott Giarman, executive director of the Kauai United Way, said from June 1 through July 15, Hokuala, formerly Kauai Lagoons, will be having a fundraiser for the Kauai United Way.
Each golfer who arrives with a donation of five or more cans of food for one of KUW’s partner agencies — the Hawaii Foodbank, Kauai Branch — will be eligible for a special rate for 18 holes of golf. Hokuala will donate $5 for all of the KUW Partner Agencies for every five cans of food.
“The Hawaii Foodbank, Kauai Branch does an extraordinary job in addressing this critical need,” Giarman said. “But, why are these people hungry? This is where a number of other Kauai United Way Partner Agencies, devoted to solving problems like hunger and homelessness by helping people take care of themselves, start their work.”
