Congratulations to Kealoha Takahashi and her staff on a great Older American Month recognition luncheon Friday! Congratulations, too, to Ed Kawamura (he’s got his home and farm expo coming up) and Shirley Simbre-Medeiros (and Wayne was busy working at the Kukui Grove Center) on being Kauai’s Outstanding Older Americans!
Ed was busy Thursday with the Ag Awareness Day at the Wailua research station, and Shirley was busy with the Alu Like kupuna doing dockside ship greeting (Julie Souza needs to join that group — then, we’ll have a real party).
Wilma Chandler (was nice to see Aunty Betty Matsumura being able to relax) was busy working the Mahelona Hospital May Day along with Aileen Mawae, and Josie Pablo couldn’t miss the luncheon where she found all those other people who are connected with helping the Mahelona Hospital residents.
Stu Burley was able to juggle the Older American Month event and still make the Kauai Government Employees Federal Credit Union scholarship luncheon (mahalo to Lisa Murphy Allison for allowing a photo of the recipients).
Finally, good luck to Jason Fujinaka as he embarks on a new chapter in his book of life!
Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers on Kauai!
