The W of Kauai, a local nonprofit, is hosting the fifth annual NCB Kauai Basketball Camp from May 30 through June 3, and the third annual NBC Kauai Volleyball amp from June 6 through June 10 at the Southside Sports
The W of Kauai, a local nonprofit, is hosting the fifth annual NCB Kauai Basketball Camp from May 30 through June 3, and the third annual NBC Kauai Volleyball amp from June 6 through June 10 at the Southside Sports Center in Koloa.
The camps will include five days of instruction, a skills work book, two T-shirts and a custom ball for each the basketball camp and the volleyball camp.
Volunteer coaches for the camps are also welcomed.
The W of Kauai is providing round trip bus transportation for campers on the Westside and the Eastside.
Camps will run from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for youth ages 8 through 11 years old, and from 1:15 to 4:45 p.m. for youth ages 12 through 18 years old.
Some of the instructors leading the camp include Jamaal Bucknor, Nikki Nelson and Rodd Sawatzky.
Bucknor, a former college stand out at Concordia University in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Buckner currently coaches at The King’s University.
Nelson was a high school standout and dribbling phenomena, performing ball handling shows during the Gonzaga University and Seattle Supersonic games. She also played basketball for the University of New Mexico.
Sawatzky works fulltime with Athletes in Action as the chaplain for three professional sports teams, including the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League. Sawatzky is a former basketball player known for his shooting. He has coached at hundreds of camps and served as keynote speaker to thousands of people at events throughout the past 30 years.
