KIPU — The dog has to sit before the owner can sit in the doggie version of “musical chairs” during the Fast and Furriest festival at the Kauai Humane Society facility.
The criteria for the doggie version made for some interesting twists in the game in which people scramble for remaining chairs when the music stops.
“I should have brought my dog,” said Ron Wiley, the emcee for the fundraising event for the Kauai Humane Society. “He has a very strong wag and would’ve taken the tail wagging contest.”
Penny Cistaro, director for the Kauai Humane Society, said the event is a classic one being held at shelters everywhere, but on Kauai, it was a “friend-raiser, not a fund-raiser.”
Pet lovers could indulge in a day of friendly competition, meet new people, and get information on new items and news of pets from the variety of vendors who offered not only animal information, but human products which are pet friendly such as organic skin rubs and lotions.
