Your hospitality meant the world to me
Kauai is has many wonderful people, and I always enjoy reading about their good deeds in the Garden Island Newspaper.
It is my turn to express my appreciation and acknowledge the dedicated people who saved my husband’s life when he had a heart attack on April 6.
We were guests at Diamond Resorts International the Point at Poipu when he collapsed. Mahalo to Paramedics, Phil and John, and Koloa Firemen — Capt. Sueo Higa Higa, Timothy Stokesbary, Matthew Ballard and Jacob Minei — who came very quickly to revive him. DRI’s front desk Manager, Coty Ganotisi, and Pe Peggy from the Resort Security Department, made sure that the emergency responders knew how to find us quickly, and they stayed with me for support.
Everyone worked very well together with the goal of getting George to Wilcox Hospital as soon as possible.
Mahalo to the Wilcox Hospital ER team, led by Dr. Downs, who treated us and then turned us over to Hawaii Life Flight Medical Crew, Connie and Spencer, and pilot, Pat, who took us to Straub Hospital in Honolulu. Dr. Downs stayed in touch with us after we got to Honolulu which was a great comfort. George had open heart surgery, and we have now returned to our home in Austin, Texas.
This was a very frightening time, but I cannot think about it without a grateful smile for the many people who helped us. We will never forget your kindness and service.
