The Fast and Furriest Festival is scheduled April 24 at the Kauai Humane Society. The gates will open at 9 a.m. with the first contest starting at 10 a.m. Fun and exciting dog games will be happening every 30 minutes.

“We are excited to be hosting the Fast and Furriest Festival this year,” said KHS Executive Director Penny Cistaro.
There will be a keiki area where children can decorate dog treats. In addition, children can learn how to properly greet a dog or make cat nip toys for the shelter cats.
Owner/Dog-Look-A-Like will be the first contest. The Best Tail Wag will be rewarded by collars and leashes from Yark. For the Peanut Butter Eating Contest, there will be two categories which will be for small dogs and large dogs. The dogs must eat all of the peanut butter to win. The final contest is Best Trick.
First, second and third place prizes will be awarded for all four contests.
Games will include Hound Hill, where dogs will need to look for one treat in a hound of shoes with a two-minute time limit.
And Musical Chairs will be played with a twist; the dog must sit before the owner can sit. Last dog and owner standing wins.
Subaru Hawaii will be bringing their latest model of a Forester so that patrons can fill the car with pet food. The donated pet food will support the Gomez’ Galley Pet Food Program.
