LIHUE — A motorcyclist was medevaced to Queen’s Medical Center following a traffic crash in Lihue Saturday afternoon.
The accident occurred on Kuhio Highway at 2:36 p.m. when the southbound motorcyclist crashed into a northbound SUV that was turning left into the Lihue McDonald’s. Traffic was at a stop when the motorcyclist drove between the two southbound lanes and crashed into the SUV, according to a county press release.
The motorcyclist, a 25-year-old Koloa man, sustained multiple injuries. He was not wearing a helmet.
The driver of the SUV and her passenger were not injured.
Following the crash, the northbound traffic was diverted to Hardy Street and the southbound traffic was re-directed to the northbound lane.
The highway was completely reopened at 5:45 p.m.
