POIPU — George Thronas, director of Hawaiian culture at the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa, was pleased with the overflow crowd at the Seaview Terrace Thursday night.
“Our general manager was to push on the community,” Thronas said. “This is just one of our free events that we booked. Keauhou was here just two weeks ago, and we brought them back for our community to enjoy here at the Seaview Terrace.”
Keauhou is made up of Zachary Lum, a Kamehameha Schools graduate of 2010, Nick Lum, a Kamehameha Class of 2012 alumnus, and Jonah Solatorio, another Kamehameha Class of 2010 graduate.
The group is completed with the talent of Jeff Ahoy on steel guitar and prefaced the appearance of the Kamehameha Schools Kapalama’s Concert Glee Club who will be offering its “Kulaiwai: Our Home” starting at 5 tonight at the Kauai Community College Performing Arts Center.
The Kulaiwai concert is a unique performance experience of mele, hula, and a love of the place we all call home — Hawaii.
The performances share the reflections of home by the young Hawaiians, reminding us of our sense of place, our sense of belonging, and our inate love of ‘aina.
Tickets will be available at the door.
