Matson representative Patrick Ono presented the Poipu Beach Rotary Club with a Ka lpu ‘Aina (Container for the Land) $1,000 grant for their efforts in cleaning up over four miles of the state Adopt-a-Highway program from Kalaheo to Eleele. As this was a combined effort involving the Interact Club of Island School, Club President Michael Carlson presented the Interact Club with $500 a matching grant toward their Cambodian project. Thirty-one volunteers participated and over 65 bags of trash were picked up, together with truck tires, coolers, beach chairs and other large items.
