Donato P. Parinas
Donato P. Parinas of Kekaha, passed away at the age of 78 on March 12, 2016 at home. Born on Sept. 7, 1937 in Langiden Abra, Philippines, he was a surveyor for Kekaha Sugar Plantation.
He is preceded in death by his parents Fernando and Antonia Parinas; nephew, John Eric Parinas; and sister-in-law, Cathy Parinas.
Donato is survived by his wife, Marcelina Parinas of Kekaha; daughters, Evelyn (Shawn) Yadao of Hanapepe, and Vangie (Mark Rapozo) Parinas of Kalaheo; grand-children, Shawn Yadao Jr., Shawntel (Garrette Duarte) Yadao, Dylan Pimental, and Kristy Pimental; great-grandchildren, Tytus Pimental, and Gage Duarte; brothers, Puleriano (Conchita) Parinas of California, and Nestor (Avelina) Parinas of Ele’ele; sister, Rosalina Perona of Chicago; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cous-ins.
A Celebration of his Life will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at St. Theresa Church in Kekaha. Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. with Mass to follow at 10:30 a.m.
The family suggests casual attire.

James Jeffrey Spies
James Jeffrey Spies of Wailua, Kauai passed away in Wilcox Memorial Hospital on March 12, 2016, at the age of 59. He was born in Chicago on Nov. 15, 1956, and was a Boat Captain.
James is survived by his sister, Karen (John) Whalen of Oahu; two uncles, one aunt, two nieces and one nephew.
Private services will be held at a later date.
Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
Michael B. Hopkins
Michael B. Hopkins of Lihue passed away on March 30, 2016 in Omao at the age of 61. Born on July 8, 1954, in Canada he was the owner of Aloha Kaua’i Tours Inc.
He is preceded in death by his father, mother, and sister: R. Don Hopkins, Dorothy, and Patricia “Trish” Hopkins.
Michael is survived by his brother, Patrick (Linda) Hopkins of Canada; sisters, Valerie (Joe) Needham of Canada, and Tracey Read of Canada; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will be held at a later date.

Hiroko Louis
Hiroko Louis, 82 years old female of Omao, Kauai passed away on March 10, 2016 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital.
Born on Oct. 11, 1933 in Waimea, Kauai, she was a retired registered nurse
Survived by her two sons: Matthew Louis, Nathan Louis, sister: Sunie Wakumoto, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
Friends may visit with the family on Sat., April 2, 2016 at St. Raphael’s Church in Koloa from 9 to 9:45 a.m. where Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at St. Raphael’s Church Cemetery.

George R. Pascua
George Pascua, of Lawa’i, Kaua’i, Hawai’i, passed away on Feb. 25, 2016, at his home at the age of 84.
He was born on Feb. 21, 1932, and was a project coordinator for the Kaua’i Housing Agency. Mr. Pascua was the first Filipino-American to serve on Kaua’i’s Board of Supervisors from 1961-1966.
He was preceded in death by his parents Francisco C. Pascua and Alipia R. Pascua, and his wife, Naoe Watanabe Pascua.
He is survived by his two daughters, Brenda (Steven) Takahashi of Aiea, O’ahu, and Shelly Pascua of Lawa’i; two brothers, William (Marina) Pascua of Koloa and Gemi (Priscilla) Pascua of Koloa; and two sisters, Leonora (Jose) Masiclat of Makakilo, O’ahu and Nina Pascua of O’mao.
A memorial service for Mr. Pascua will be held on April 2, 2016; with visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. and the memorial service to follow from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Veterans Center in Lihu’e.

Edward Calija
Edward Calija of Kaumakani passed away on March 5, 2016. Born on Oct. 13, 1968 in the Philippines, he was a housekeeper with Waiohai, Diamond Resort and Pacific Fa-cility Services.
He is survived by his wife, Clair Acob Calija; two sons, Christian Ferdz Acob Calija and Ron Janvis Acob Calija; daughter, Amerfil Grace Acob Calija; mother, Carmen Calija; brothers, Elmer Caliva of California and Reynaldo Caliva of Cebu City, Philippines; along with numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel in Lawai with wake services to begin at 7 p.m.
