LIHUE — Kauai County Councilmember JoAnn Yukimura will host a public workshop titled “How to Have a Voice in County Government” 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 31 at Ha Coffee Bar in Lihue.
The evening workshop will cover how a bill becomes a law; how to obtain information about bills and resolutions before the Kauai County Council; how to submit written testimony and how to present oral testimony.
Attendees will learn how to utilize these tools to address their personal concerns on issues in the community, such as road re-paving, speeding cars in neighborhood, the high cost of housing, and the need for more bus service.
“My hope is that the public will learn through this workshop how to make democracy work in their community and gain the tools to become more effective citizens,” Yukimura said.
A light meal will be provided to attendees.
RSVPs are requested for food preparation purposes to (808) 652-3988.
