Early risers were treated to great deals Saturday morning as the Rotary Club of Hanalei Bay held its eighth annual Greatest Garage Sale Ever at the Kilauea Mini Storage in Kilauea.
“It’s a fabulous event for the community, put on by the community,” said Hanalei Bay Rotary Foundation Chairman Monica Oszust.
More than 200 people began lining up early to shop for new and lightly used treasures ranging from furniture, clothing and toys, to small appliances, linens, sporting goods and more.
All the merchandise was donated by local Rotarians, businesses and community members.
Last year, the annual Rotary event raised $13,000 far a variety of community causes. More than 30 Hanalei Bay Rotarians rolled their sleeves to help eager shoppers and give back to the community.
“We’re not going to go away empty-handed,” said Quinn Merle as he stood outside the 4,000-square-foot warehouse waiting for the sale to start.
After securing her post early, Valli Celaya of Kilauea was first in line to enter the garage sale.
“I wanted to be sure not to miss the deals,” a smiling Celaya said.
