Happy birthday to Shirley Whitfield (Jim says it’s ‘Whitfield,’ not ‘Whitefield’). Goldie Cross didn’t forget and had a special cupcake for Shirley, Tuesday night at the Hawaii Republican presidential caucus.
Jim is the former president of the East Kauai Lions Club which just celebrated its annual pancake breakfast (Gary Pacheco says not to forget the North Shore Lions Club’s Hula and Pancakes on April 3 at the Hanalei School cafeteria from 7 to 11 a.m.). Mahalo to Steven Fujii for getting me all the numbers.
Melissa Michael from Kona is getting excited about the MS Sunset Stroll coming up, March 26 from 4 p.m. at the Kapaa Beach Park. She flew in special to see Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. wear his yellow (that’s the Laurie Nakama team color) shirt during Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Week (did you know that there are about 800 people who live with MS on Kauai?). She said the Kauai walk is going to be her first.
Laurie said there is a “frendly” team competition (General Mary Kay Hertog said she’s going to wear white), and Krystal Morinaka hasn’t figured out their color (didn’t they have blue, last year?). And what about Cindy Edralin?
