The Republican Party of Kauai is hosting a presidential caucus from 6 to 8 tonight at locations across the island.
“We’re hoping for a big turnout — Republican caucuses have been quite large around the nation,” said Steve Yoder, chairman of the Republican Party of Kauai. “(Donald) Trump is the big guy; he’s piquing interest whether you like him or not.”
Others seeking the Republican presidential nominatio include U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, Ohio Gov. John Kasich and U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio.
The 2012 Republican caucus on Kauai attracted nearly 500 people, he said.
Voters must be over 18 and bring photo ID. Caucus locations are determined by where residents live.
Locations are:
w Princeville Community Center: Haena, Hanalei, Princeville and Kilauea residents.
w Kapaa Neighborhood Center: Anahola, Kealia, Kapaa and Wailua residents.
w Lihue Neighborhood Center: Hanamaulu, Lihue and Puhi residents.
w Kalaheo Neighborhood Center: Omao, Koloa, Lawai, Kalaheo, Eleele, Hanapepe and Kaumakani residents.
w Waimea Neighborhood Center: Pakala, Waimea, Kekaha and Niihau residents.
