One of the students in the Leadership Kauai Class of 2016 has an initiative of promoting science, technology, mathematics, and engineering, said Char Ravelo, the Leadership Kauai executive director.
That brought out nearly all of the Class of 2016 who worked nonstop in helping students create their own flashlights Friday during the Kauai Regional Science and Engineering Fair at Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall.
Students took advantage of the more than 90 minutes allowed for browsing through the different student exhibits from both the Junior and Senior divisions representing all of the schools in the Kauai Complex Area.
The evening was highlighted by the announcement of winners (see TGI, Feb. 27 issue for listing), the top five advancing to the state event March 8-30 on Oahu.
Mariann Tabuchi chaired the annual event.
