Zaeden Ray Pomaika’i’imaikalani Cadawas-Kaui
Zaeden Ray Pomaika’i’imaikalani Cadawas-Kaui of Kilauea passed away in Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital on Feb. 16, 2016, at the age of 8. He was born on Oahu on Oct. 23, 2007, and was a student at Kilauea Elementary School.
He was preceded in death by maternal great-grandfather, Takayuki “Taxi” Kimura; maternal great-grandmother, IvaJean Gerardo; paternal great-grandparents, Wilfred and Itsue Kaui Sr. and Edwin “Ah Meng” and Clara Fu Sr.
Zaeden is survived by his parents, Wilfred “Bradda” Kaui III and Shauntie Cadawas; sisters, Zalyah and Aveah Cadawas-Kaui, (big sister) Taelee Kimura; maternal great-grandmother, Sally Kimura; maternal grandparents, Lori and Alan Cadawas; paternal grandparents, Wilfred (Cynthia) Kaui Jr. and Edleen Kaui; uncles and aunties, Clifton (Desteny) Cadawas, Jacque (Dwyle) Kaui-Lee, Melanie (Cary) Mitchell, Jeffrey (Emily) Kaui; and numerous aunties, uncles and cousins.
A celebration of Zaeden’s life will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2016, at St. Sylvester Catholic Church with viewing from 9 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.
Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
Rosalina ‘Sally’ Decker
Rosalina “Sally” Decker, of Bactac, Philippines, passed away on Feb. 22, 2016, at her home at the age of 82.
She was born on Sept. 3, 1933, and was a nurse aide with Nurse Finders at Wilcox Hospital.
She was preceded in death by Anastacia Pangdan, Mariano Layaoen Pangdam and Kaumakani Kalama-Ventar.
She is survived by her husband, Wesley Decker of Hanamaulu; son, Daniel (Kristen) Decker of Kapaa; daughter, Laura Goo of Arizona; seven grandchildren, Serenity Kalama, Kayla-Anne Goo, Kegan Goo, Dynielle Decker, Dreyden Decker, Preston Decker and Kevin Fisher; two brothers, Benito (Cresing) Pangdan of Kilauea and Samuel (Aida) Pangdan of Kilauea; and two sisters, Lucia (Marcelino) Tabuli of Kilauea and Noemi (Arlene) Illastron of Kalaheo.
A celebration of her life will be held on March 5, 2016, with visitation from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m., and services to follow from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Lihue Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at the church.
The family requests casual/aloha attire and flowers are welcome.
Mamoru Katsura
Mamoru Katsura, of Aiea, Oahu, died Jan. 24, 2016, in Pearl City at the age of 89. He was born in Eleele and was a retired electrician with Hygrade Electric and was an Army veteran of WWII.
He is survived by four children; brother, Alan; sister, Lillian Katsura; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A private service was held.
Hosoi Garden Mortuary assisted the Katsura family with the arrangements.
Robert ‘Bob’ Lee DeMond
Robert “Bob” Lee DeMond, 70, who was born April 12, 1945, in Los Angeles, California, and spent most of his life in Hawaii, died on Kauai on Sunday, Feb. 21, 2016.
He served in the U.S. Navy and was a contractor and master carpenter.
He is survived by his wife, Leinani Miyashiro-DeMond; four children, Raeann Osby, Renee Katsov, Robert DeMond and Noe Partida; eight grandchildren; three brothers, Ray, Dick and Ron DeMond; and extended nieces, nephews, numerous friends and family.
A celebration of his life will be held privately.
Alice Nagahisa-Maeda
Alice Fujiko Nagahisa-Maeda passed away on Feb. 5, 2016, at Wailua Ohana Care Home in Wailua, Kauai, at the age of 102. Born on Nov. 20, 1913, in Kealia, Kauai, she was a secretary for the County of Kauai.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey T. Maeda; and brother, Albert Nagahisa, Sr.
Alice is survived by her son, Harvey K. (Suzette Momohara) Maeda of Lihue; and daughter, Vicky (Chris) Ito of Oahu; grandchildren, Leila (Jon) Maeda-Kobayashi, Garrett (Kelly) Maeda, Stuart (Kristin) Maeda and Jared Ito; great-grandchildren, Braden Kobayashi, Larissa Kobayashi, Grant Maeda and Skyler Maeda; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services were held. Family graciously declines koden.

Lynette Leilani Kapanui
Lynette Leilani Kapanui, 50, of Lawai and Waimea, Kauai, passed away on Feb. 23, 2016, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital.
Born on Sept. 2, 1965, in Kauai, Hawaii, she was a sales clerk.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Robby Nawai.
She is survived by her husband, Virgil Kapanui; her daughter, Kamaile Kapanui; two sons, Kapono Kapanui and Kaleo Kapanui; parents, Bobby and Lei Nawai; uncle, Sonny (Barbara) Souza; aunty, Julie Souza; and numerous relatives and friends.
Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at Waimea Sacred Hearts Church from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m., where Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m.
