Kudos to Napua Domenden, Nelson Batalion, Kyoko Ikeda and the many hands who coordinated the Club and International Education Day at the Kauai Community College.
Kelvin Moniz brought over Ronnie Martin of Texas to help form a new Lions Club (there hasn’t been a new Lions Club for more than 34 years) with Shelly Cobb (she’s in Japan right now). Harvey Maeda (he’s the miso soup maker for the March 6 pancake breakfast — Barbara Gusman and Sharon Lasker said they still have tickets available!) and DeAnna Starinieri were both helping Kelvin and Ronnie because Harvey said there was some interest from Kauai Community College students in becoming Lions.
Kyoko took advantage of the 26 visiting students from the Okinawa Christian University and the Okinawa Christian Junior College (Brian Yamamoto said half of the group is majoring in English and half are early childhood education majors) to have some Okinawa culture shared.
Lisa Murphy Allison of the Kauai Government Employees Federal Credit Union had to be there (it’s not Easter yet), and Taylor Shigemoto of the Kauai Community Federal Credit Union was doing the kasasa thing on the heels of its Kapaa Warrior Credit Union opening.
