LIHUE — Principals from Kauai’s public schools went home Tuesday with boxes of school supplies and gift cards.
“We have 15 boxes of supplies, one for each school,” said Stacie Chiba-Miguel, Kukui Grove Center operations manager. “Additionally, we have gift cards from Walmart and Kmart to schools to get whatever they need which is not covered in the school supplies box.”
The contribution amounts to about $235 for each school.
Chiba-Miguel said the presentation resulted from the 2015 “Back to School Bash and School Supplies Giveaway” and marked the launch of the 2016 program which is scheduled July 9.
“Thanks to the incredible amount of response and support and sponsorships we received from last year’s Back to School Bash, we are able to provide Kauai students with a second donation of supplies for this spring semester,” said Wade Lord, Kukui Grove general manager. “We are anxiously looking forward to even greater success at this year’s event.”
Chiba-Miguel said during the 2015 campaign benefited students from preschools through college.
