Zaeden Ray Pomaika’i’imaikalani Cadawas-Kaui
Zaeden Ray Pomaika’i’imaikalani Cadawas-Kaui of Kilauea passed away in Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital on Feb. 16, 2016, at the age of 8. He was born on Oahu on Oct. 23, 2007, and was a student at Kilauea Elementary School.
Preceded in death by maternal great-grandfather, Takayuki “Taxi” Kimura; maternal great-grandmother, IvaJean Gerardo; paternal great-grandparents, Wilfred and Itsue Kaui Sr., and Edwin “Ah Meng” and Clara Fu Sr.
Zaeden is survived by his parents, Wilfred “Bradda” Kaui III and Shauntie Cadawas; sisters, Zalyah and Aveah Cadawas-Kaui, (big sister) Taelee Kimura; maternal great-grandmother, Sally Kimura; maternal grandparents, Lori and Alan Cadawas; paternal grandparents, Wilfred (Cynthia) Kaui Jr. and Edleen Kaui; uncles and aunties, Clifton (Desteny) Cadawas, Jacque (Dwyle) Kaui-Lee, Melanie (Cary) Mitchell, Jeffrey (Emily) Kaui, numerous aunties, uncles and cousins.
A celebration of Zaedens’ life will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2016, at St. Sylvester Catholic Church with viewing from 9 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will be followed at Kauai Memorial Gardens.
Kauai Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
Robert ‘Bob’ Lee DeMond
Robert “Bob” Lee DeMond was born on April 12, 1945, in Los Angeles, California. He spent most of his life in Hawaii and died on Kauai, Feb. 21, 2016, at the age of 70.
He served in the U.S. Navy, a contractor, master carpenter, and is survived by his wife, Leinani Miyashiro-DeMond; four children, Raeann Osby, Renee Katsov, Robert DeMond and Noe Partida; eight grandchildren, three brothers; Ray, Dick and Ron DeMond and extended nieces, nephews, numerous friends and family.
Celebration of his Life will be held privately.
Brian Wendell Silva
Brian Silva passed away at Hale Kupuna on Jan. 26, 2016, at the age of 63. Born on Oct. 30, 1952, to Andrew and Norma “Silva” Vidinha, he was a heavy equipment operator with Kekaha Sugar and an umpire for various baseball and softball organizations throughout Kauai.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest G. Silva and Marian “Huddy” Silva.
Brian is survived by his son, Dustin (Jessica Tabije) Silva of Oahu; three grandchildren, Justin Josiah Silva, Danielle Silva and Faith Silva, all of Oahu; twin brother, Burt (Ku’ulei) Vidinha of Kekaha; sisters, Erleen “Erla” Akana of Kekaha and Jayneen (BG) Laysa of Kalaheo; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, March 26, 2016, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel in Lawai. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. with services to follow at 11 a.m.
Casual attire is suggested and flowers are welcomed.

James Daniel ‘Stone’ Napohaku
James Daniel “Stone” Napohaku of Hanapepe, passed away on Jan. 22, 2016, at Kauai Veteran’s Memorial Hospital at the age of 75. Born on Dec. 15, 1940, on Kauai in Hanapepe, he was a retired boiler maker from Port Allen.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Lei Napohaku and Cecilia Moke and grandson, Kainalu Pegeder-Napohaku.
James is survived by his caretaker, Cecelia P. Aki (Christopher Kali) of Hanapepe, daughters; Cecelia Hoffman (Sheldon) of Kalaheo, Anela Ogawa (Christian) of Lihue, GirleyAnn Napohaku (Troy Yamamoto) of Hanapepe; son, Noah Napohaku of Hanapepe; 11 grandchildren; six great-granchildren, two sisters; Louisa Adolfo of Lihue, Kauai and Juliette Asato of Pearl City, Oahu; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorial services will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016, at the Hanapepe Hawaiian Congressional Church. Burial is set following services at the Hanapepe Hawaiian cemetery.
Casual attire is suggested and flowers are welcomed.

Henry Abreu
Henry Abreu of Kalaheo, passed away at Straub Hospital on Oahu on Jan. 24, 2016, at the age of 83.
Born on July 15, 1932, in Makaweli, he was a retired construction laborer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Leatrice Joy Abreu; brothers, William Abreu, James Abreu, Eddie Abreu and sister, Beatrice Capoci.
Henry is survived by daughters, Helen Abreu of Kalaheo, Karen Hudson of Oahu, Joycelyn (Evan) Vasconcelles of Lawai and Rose Canales of Lawai; grandchildren, Alana (Darren) Agustin, Waylon Brun, Victoria Hudson, Alexis Hudson, Kira Abreu and Sarah Canales; great-grandchildren, Aaliyah and Dakota Agustin; brother, Nelson (Tina) Abreu and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Henry’s life will be held on Feb. 27, 2016, at St Raphea’ls Catholic Church in Koloa. Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. with Mass to follow.
Carmen Abreu
Carmen Abreu of Lawai, Kauai, born on July 9, 1926, passed away at the age of 89, on Feb. 9, 2016 in Lihue, Kauai.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Diane Perry; and survived by her husband, David Abreu Sr.; son, David (Sharon) Abreu Jr. of Lawai, Kauai; daughter, Edna Abreu of Lawai, Kauai; four grandchildren, Andrea (Koa Rita) Perry, Keith Perry, Shelley (Kaeo) Yuen, and Dave (Brandee) Abreu; six great-grandchildren, Taira Abreu, Brayden Abreu, Sage Yuen, Kamalani Yuen, Huntlee Rita, and Elena Perry; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial services for Carmen will be held on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016, at the Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo. Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. with Mass to follow.
An Interment will then be followed at the Holy Cross Cemetery.
Casual attire is suggested and flowers are welcomed.

Charlene Sadie Kananimauloa Yamamoto
Charlene Sadie Kananimauloa Yamamoto of Kekaha passed away at the age of 65, on Feb. 1, 2016, at home. She was born on Sept. 14, 1950, in Honolulu, and was a retired outreach worker with Ho’ola Lahui Hawaii.
She is preceded in death by her sons, Mason Yamamoto, Martin Yamamoto and Dexter Kaido Yamamoto Jr.; parents, Benjamin Naka’ahiki Sr. and Esther Naka’ahiki; brothers, Garrick Naka’ahiki and Marvin Naka’ahiki and brother-in-law, Kevin Iwai.
Char is survived by her husband, Dexter Kaido Yamamoto; daughter, Dayla (Palani) Camacho of Kekaha; two grandchildren, Shelbri-Ann Cosier and Charli Camacho; brothers, Thomas (Alice) Baptista of Waimea, Benjamin Naka’ahiki Jr. of Kekaha, Brenn (Eileen) Naka’ahiki of Kekaha, Joseph (Nani) Naka’ahiki of Kekaha and Clyson (Hoku) Naka’ahiki of Hanapepe; sisters, Pili Iwai of Waimea, Ku’ulei (Burt) Vidinha of Kekaha, Trudi (Lee) Contrades of Kekaha and Elena (Todd) Naka’ahiki of Eleele; sister-in-law, Oriente Naka’ahiki of Eleele; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016, at The Church of Jesus of Latter Day Saints, Kekaha Ward. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. with services at 11 a.m. Followed by an urn burial at the Kekaha Hawaiian Cemetery.

Marjorie Kozue Konishi
Marjorie Kozue Konishi of Lihue, Kauai, former cashier, First Insurance Co. and vice president of Gary’s Service, died in Lihue at the age of 86. She was born in Kilauea.
She is survived by son, Glen (Shelley) Konishi; daughter, Gail (Warren) Haruki; grandchildren, Jason and Justin Haruki, Kristen (Brant) Fuchigami, Kevin and Kareen Konishi; great-grandchildren, Kira and Karissa Fuchigami; sisters, Shizue Kimura, Tamae Endo, and Maxine Yamamoto.
She is preceded in death by husband, Gary of 60 years; daughters, Carol and Rae; brother, Yoshio Marumoto; sisters Sumie Croydon, Toshie Furukawa and Asae Oshita.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, Feb. 26, 2016, at 3:30 p.m. at the St. Michael’s and All Angel’s Episcopal Church. Services will begin at 4:30 p.m.
The family requests no flowers and casual attire is suggested.

Alice Fujiko Nagahisa-Maeda
Alice Fujiko Nagahisa-Maeda passed away on Feb. 5, 2016, at Wailua Ohana Care Home in Wailua at the age of 102. Born on Nov. 20, 1913, in Kealia, Kauai, she was a secretary for the County of Kauai.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey T. Maeda; and brother, Albert Nagahisa, Sr.
Alice is survived by her son, Harvey K. (Suzette Momohara) Maeda of Lihue and daughter, Vicky (Chris) Ito of Oahu; grandchildren, Leila (Jon) Maeda-Kobayashi, Garrett (Kelly) Maeda, Stuart (Kristin) Maeda and Jared Ito; great-grandchildren, Braden Kobayashi, Larissa Kobayashi, Grant Maeda, and Skyler Maeda and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Private services held. Family graciously declines koden.

Takeshi ‘Take’ Nakagawara
Takeshi “Take” Nakagawara of Eleele, Kauai, passed away on Jan. 28, 2016, at the age of 91. He was born on April 21, 1924, in Eleele, Kauai and was a machinist McBryde Sugar.
Preceded in death by parents, Jutaro and Chiyono Nakagawara; wife, Tsuiko “Sue” Nakagawara; sons, Ray Nakagawara, Glenn Nakagawara; one grandson; numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, friends.
Celebration of Life private.
