LIHUE — Sandra Hiu of Chevron Hawaii said there hasn’t been a Chevron gas station built on Kauai for more than a decade.
That changed starting Tuesday morning at the Hokulei Shopping Village.
Hiu and Heather Namahoe flew in for the groundbreaking of the Hokulei Chevron, owned and operated by Lahaina Petroleum.
“This is the fifth Lahaina Petroleum station on Kauai,” said Tim Skovensky, president of Lahaina Petroleum. “It will feature Chevron gas and a lot of good food options through its Circle K store.”
Hokulei Chevron will also feature a car wash and joins the other four Lahaina Petroleum-owned Chevron stations including the Chevron Lihue, Chevron Rice Street, Chevron Kapaa and Chevron Koloa.
It will be located adjacent to the Jack in the Box restaurant and across from the Verizon Wireless store in the Hokulei Shopping Village, which is anchored by the Safeway store.
Annie Marszal of Lahaina Petroleum said she anticipates the station to be completed this summer.
Rod Lambert of Layton Construction will serve as the project manager and Scott Haroldsen is the project superintendent.
Lahaina Petroleum owns and operates 14 Chevron gas stations in the state of Hawaii.
