Charlie Rebb is looking forward to Girl’s Day, the third day of the third month.
On that day, Taxaide will be at the Hanapepe Library from 12:30 to 3 p.m., and at Kapaa Library from 8 to 10:30 a.m. It is also Charlie’s 94th birthday. Charlie is one of the AARP tax preparers volunteer who has been doing taxes for the past 22 years (he also helps lead the Alzheimer’s Walk with Humberto Blanco, and does a lot of the activities with the Regency at Puakea).
Good luck to coaches Micah Mokuahi and Lori Parraga at Saturday’s state paddling championships!
Is Kaimana Zarbaugh (Kapaa boys varsity team) related to Chantal Zarbaugh at Kukui Grove Center? Chantal has the Chinese New Year festivities taking place, Saturday from 2:30 p.m. at the Macy’s (they’re a sponsor of the Red Lucky Ticket) women’s department and ending at the food court area. Of course, Kapaa also has Haylee Garcia Raquel (“I belong to Eden”) paddling, and Kauai has Rachel Medeiros (remember her from cross country?). Good luck to all!
Chef Rafael Camarillo said he can’t be at either the Debbie Yanagihara (she’s Alden Alayvilla’s aunt), or Sarah Tochiki craft fairs, Saturday since he’s got other obligations. But the craft fairs should still be good since Debbie’s event benefits a veterans group, and Sarah is getting the Kauai All-Island Band ready for their Memorial Day tour, the first time a Hawaii band has traveled this far to perform.
