LIHUE — The Garden Island Arts Council’s E Kanikapila Kakou program continues its 33rd season 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Kauai Beach Resort.
The invited artists, cousins from Niihau, will include the talented singing group calling themselves the Triple Ts — Tona, Tana and Tita. They consistently impress audiences with their extraordinary powerful and harmonious voices.
EKK will also introduce young Austin Keikialoha Kaohelaulii, making his Kauai debut. Of the more than 15 instruments he plays, Kaohelaulii has chosen the piano for the evening.
E Kanikapila Kakou — which means “Let’s play music” — consists of music on 10 consecutive Monday evenings. This year, it runs from Jan. 18 through March 21.
Musicians, composers, kumu hula, storytellers, and artists steeped in Hawaiian music, dance and culture will share their talents. On the final Monday night, EKK will feature a ticketed concert featuring Willie K and his band.
A suggested donation of $5 to $10 at the door will help GIAC defray expenses and continue this community service program.
Next up at EKK on Feb. 1 are Walt Keale, Steven Inglis and Chris Lau.
