John Brun Jr.
Born to John Brun Sr. and Eva (Moura) Brun, in Eleele, Kauai on February 28, 1934, John was the eldest of five sons.
On January 3, 2016, at 81 years young, he passed away as a true Warrior, peacefully, in his sleep, at home with his family.
He is survived by daughters Joni (Blane) Brun and Rhonda (Ricky) Brun of Las Vegas; sons John (Terriann) Brun and Darren Brun of Kalaheo; brothers Herbert (Rose) Brun of Canada, Francis (Aileen) Brun of Kalaheo; sisters-in-law, Betty (Richard) Brun and Lorraine (Vernon) Brun; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and his long-time companion, Venus Corpus of Puhi.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Eva; his wife Sharon, his brothers Richard and Vernon Brun, and nephews Vernon Jr. and Christopher Brun.
Edward ‘Eddie-Big Trucker’ Banasihan Sr.
Edward Aquino Banasihan Sr. of Kapaa, formerly of McBryde, born on July 15, 1940 in Lihue, Kauai, passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on January 7, 2016 at the age of 75.
He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Banasihan; daughter, Virginia; grandson, Kekoa Banasihan; parents, Fidel and Leonora (Villanida) Banasihan; and brothers, Leonard Banasihan and Joseph Banasihan.
Edward is survived by his wife, Priscilla Mae Posten; three sons, Christopher Isaac Kaleinani (Feve) Banasihan of Kalaheo, Edward Aquino Banasihan Jr. of Las Vegas, and Joshua (Samantha) Banasihan; four daughters, Paula (Jerome) Dotimas of Lihue, Andrea-Nalani (Fred Jason Jr.) Land of Lihue, Elisha Lokelani Banasihan of Wailua, and Karmel-Ginger (Victor) Kupihea of Wailua; 11 grandchildren, Sharnelle Dotimas, Isaiah (Courtney) Dotimas, Lacy (Jeff) Batangan; Chelsie Banasihan, Ashley Kahalekai, Keisha Land, Cristyal Banasihan, Isaac Banasihan, Ke’ala Banasihan, Shaniece Banasihan, and Kiara Banasihan; and 11 great-grandchildren, Tashiah Cabresa-Dotimas, Kaiea Cabresa-Dotimas, Zyani Dotimas-Yadao, Adam Martin, Keali’i Dotimas, Jahzi Dotimas-Batangan, Leizjah Dotimas- Batangan, Jairez Dotimas-Batangan, Kailea Caldwell-Banasihan, Zachariah Caldwell-Banasihan, and Kaydence Caldwell-Banasihan.
He is also survived by three brothers, Samuel (Bernie) Banasihan of Kekaha, Paul (Roberta) Banasihan of Kekaha, and Richard (Rinda) Banasihan of Kalaheo; two sisters, Patricia “Pat” Banasihan of Kekaha and Annette Meranian of Kekaha; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at the Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo. Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. with services to start at 10:30 a.m.

Marcelino Corpuz Domingo
Marcelino Corpuz Domingo of Kilauea, Kauai, passed away at home on January 9, 2016, at the age of 79. He was born in Baccara, Ilocos Norte, Philippines on June 13, 1936, and was a sugar processor with Kilauea Sugar Plantation.
Marcelino is survived by his wife, Leonor Domingo of Kilauea; three sons, Delfin (Kelly) Domingo of South Carolina, Blaine Domingo of Alaska, Ferdinand (Glacy) Marcelino of Hanamaulu; one daughter, Nicki Domingo of Kilauea; 5 grandchildren, Tiffany Domingo of Oahu, Gavin Marcelino and Hilarie Marcelino of Hanamaulu, Keoni Domingo and Makana Domingo of South Carolina; one great-grandchild, Natalie Domingo of Oahu.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2016, at St. Sylvester Church with viewing from 8 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kilauea Japanese Cemetery.

John Michael Cherry
John Michael Cherry died January 3, 2016, in his home on January 3 in Kauai, Hawaii, at the age of 58. He was born July 17, 1957, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of James Bert and Mary (Liden) Cherry who preceded him in death. John was a painter.
John is survived by his loving brothers, James J. of California, Joel R. (Barbara) of California, Jay E. (Kathleen) of Illinois and Justin C. of Chicago; and their children Jake, Jesse, Steven, Lucas, Loren, Kyle, James and Ethan, and many other dear relatives and friends.
A memorial service hosted by his brothers for John is planned at 1:30 pm on Saturday, March 19 at Glen Park, 2149 Orinda Dr., in Cardiff by the Sea, California. Kathleen ‘Katie’ Annette Casey
Kathleen ‘Katie’ Annette Casey, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and aunt.
Katie went into God’s hands peacefully on December 21, 2015 from her beloved Kauai, surrounded by family. Katie was born in Pasco, Washington, to Margaret Ann Gilbert (Sylvester) and Gordon (Skip) W. Gilbert, Jr., the first grandchild of Ainsworth and Ethel Sylvester, and Gordon and Dorothy Gilbert. Katie grew-up and lived in Bellevue, Washington, and attended Washington State University. She worked in various support positions, including in legal firms, ending her career at Foster Pepper PLLC. Katie and Kevin, her husband of 34years, raised their daughters Erin and Kristin in Seattle and Woodinville, Washington. In 2010 they moved to Kauai, the magical place Katie always wanted to live. She thrived on Kauai and made many close friends, as she did wherever she went. Katie’s kind heart, willing ear, openness, enthusiasm, grace and calming influence were a winning combination. Many hearts were touched by her and are heavy at her passing.
Katie is survived by husband, Kevin, daughters Erin (Ryan) Sousley and Kristin (Petr) Vrsek, granddaughters Elle Margaret and Gwynevere Kate Sousley, parents Gordon W. (Margaret Ann) Gilbert, Jr., brothers Craig (Meri) Gilbert and Andrew (Cherie) Gilbert, and nieces and nephews Alyssa, Matthew, Ryan and Carlie Gilbert.

Diane Varue Costales
Diane Varue Costales passed away on December 22, 2015 at the age of 75. Born on April 17, 1940, in Pensacola, Florida, she was a Licensed Practical Nurse with Kauai Medical Center.
She is survived by her son, Edwin (Jeanette Gerona) Costales of Waimea; daughter, Patricia A. (Tim) Drury of Makakilo; three grandchildren, Tiffany Costales, Tristan Costales, and Neno Costales; three great-grandchildren, Hau’oli Kanahele, Lilinoe Kanahele, and Xyris Costales; brother, Albert Paulus of California; sister, Florence Hughes of California; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of Diane’s Life will be held at the Kauai Veteran’s Cemetery in Hanapepe on Saturday, January 23, 2016. Friends may visit with the family at 10 a.m. with services to follow at 11 a.m.

Engracia Degracia Dasalla
Engracia Degracia Dasalla of Lihue passed away at home on January 2, 2016, at the age of 84. She was born in Binalonan, Pangasinan, Philippines on February 1, 1931, and was a dedicated homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Romeo and Arthur Dasalla.
Engracia is survived by her husband, Demetrio Dasalla of Lihue; five sons, Gilbert (Luzviminda) Dasalla of the Philippines, Demetrio (Gloria) Dasalla Jr., Richard (Alicia) Dasalla, Melanio (Maricor) Dasalla, Jeff (Jeymie) Dasalla all of Lihue; five daughters, Thelma Dasalla of Lihue, Liberty (Arnold) Cabalo of Oahu, Gemma (Jose) Castillo, Trinidad (Michael) Arguilla, Patricia (Ronald) Alicante all of Lihue; 39 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; three sisters, Herminigilda Degracia Perono, Josefina Zamora Degracia, both of Kauai; Honorata Verdeflor of the Philippines; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will take place in the Philippines at Poblacion Norte Santa Maria, Ilocos Sur, Philippines and burial will be held at San Maria Cemetery.

Rosina Gabrielle Horeth
Rosina Gabrielle Horeth of Princeville, Kauai, formerly of New York and California, passed away on January 12, 2016, at the age of 77. She was born in Romania and was a retired technical writer for IBM.
She was preceded in death by parents, George and Susanna Horeth.
Rosina is survived by sisters and brother Marie Hedrick, George (Judith) Horeth, Wilhelmine (John) Norton; nieces and nephews, Cindy (Steve) Kemmerly, Ralph (Karen) Aldinger, Linda (Rich) Rivera, Corine Horeth, Terry Horeth, Debbie Norton; great-nieces and nephews, Jarrett (Megan) Kemmerly, Jessica and Joshua Aldinger, Nicolette and Cassandra Rivera as well as extended family and dear friends in Rochester, NY, and The San Francisco Bay Area.
