Be responsible, watch for skateboarders
Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, please forgive me!
I nearly killed two young boys Monday driving up McDonald’s ramp, Kapaa. I had just finished placing my order for an ice cream cone and began to pull forward to the pay window when speeding around the corner of McDonald’s driveway, came two elementary school boys without headgear on skateboards.
After praising God that I did not hit them, I ranted the dangers of riding that driveway even with a helmet. On completion of my rage (looked at me like I was mental), I drove up to pay my bill and told the clerk they needed to erect mirrors with cameras on the outside to protect themselves and lawsuits. The cost of the cameras and mirrors should go to the customers, because, it is the customers’ kuliana to instruct their children the responsibilities of skateboarding.
Besides, this family as well as others in the community must enjoy and welcome being taxed yearly for facilities that are being erected for our protection and not being used. If this is so, hey, give me the money so I can build me my home.

Trump best choice to guide country
So you published an anti-Trump rhetoric letter, may I be allowed equal time?
Thirty years ago, we tried to get Lee Iacocca to run for president and he wouldn’t. Our founding fathers had day jobs and were politicians out of passion.
Donald Trump has a day job and is the best chance this country has had since Roosevelt to steer this ship to the shore. He does not need the job like the rest of those idiots, he genuinely thinks he can make a difference. If you are afraid of Trump, it’s more than likely you are afraid of your own shadow. The man calls em’ like he sees em.’ It’s about time someone took the stage that actually belongs there.

Merging traffic slows highway travel
Every time something happens on Kaumualii Highway, the merging traffic from Maluhia (Tree Tunnel) Road backs up eastbound traffic for miles. This also happens during morning rush hour. DOT should consider a traffic signal there that would permit one or two cars at a time to merge from Maluhia, and then stop that traffic to allow the highway traffic to proceed. This system seems to work well on the Mainland at freeway on-ramps.
It is not right for merging traffic to hold up traffic on the main highway. Just a thought.
Glad I don’t have to traverse this route in the a.m.
