Owner and founder of Personal Financial Consultants Inc., Loren Kayfetz and wife Pat Pannell, part-time residents of Kauai since 2004, have found a way to marry their love of classical music with their desire to provide support for community service agencies on Kauai.
The couple started “Kauai Klassics” in 2010 to raise funds for the United Way while presenting world-class virtuoso musicians in an intimate setting.
“We love this type of music and are excited to present it to others on Kauai who share that love, or may be experiencing it, in person, for the first time” Loren Kayfetz said.
Musicians have come from the Galliard String Quartet, The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center in New York, and this year, from the three top orchestras in San Francisco.
Personal Financial pays all of the expenses to produce the event. The only cost to the United Way is catering for paid admissions.
To date, the event has raised over $155,000 for the Kauai United Way. The event raises funds three ways: Entry fees, donation drawing tickets and a live auction for trips to San Francisco, New York and Europe. Kayfetz organizes and funds the trips with some help from hotel and individual sponsors.
“Some people have asked us, why Kauai United Way? The way that Pat and I see it, Kauai United Way has their finger on the pulse of the real and current needs in Kauai’s Human Services,” Kayfetz said. “To us, a gift to United Way – goes further in our community than the same gift to one agency.”
Kayfetz is an accomplished amateur flutist who has performed with the Baltimore Symphony, San Francisco Community Orchestra and in nearly all of the musicals on Kauai for the last 10 years. He, along with Susan Hironaka on flute and Jane Albrecht on cello, will be providing the preconcert entertainment while guests enjoy pupus and refreshments.
To attend Kauai Klassics on Saturday, call the Kauai United Way at 245-2043 or www.kauaiunitedway.org. There are a limited number of free student tickets available.
