Estanislao ‘Stanley’ Laysa Jr.
Estanislao “Stanley” Laysa Jr. of Kekaha, passed away at Kauai Care Center on Dec. 18, 2015 at the age of 68. Born on Feb. 3, 1947 in Waimea, Kauai. He was a retired sanitation worker for the County of Kauai.
He is preceded in death by his son, Estanislao “Stanley Boy” Laysa III; daughter, Juliana Laysa; parents, Estanislao Sr. and Hanako Kaneshiro Laysa; brother, Philip Laysa; and sisters, Charlotte Evertsen and Grace Kaneshiro.
Stanley is survived by his son, Llewellyn Laysa of O’ahu; daughter, Susan Mae Soto of Florida; four grandchildren, Justin Soto, Edward Soto, Stanley Laysa-Hill, and Christine Laysa; two great-grandchildren, Joziah Laysa-Trice and Blayze Laysa-Hill; brothers, Kenneth (Myong Suki) Kaneshiro of Georgia, Gary Laysa of New York, Patrick “BG” (Jayneen) Laysa of Kalaheo, Lincoln (Robyn) Laysa of Kalihi and Walter (Teodora) Laysa of Italy; sisters, Antonieta “Patsy” Gapasen of Kekaha, Janet Nishimura of Kaneohe, Lillian (Norbert) Walke of Ohio and Davida (Lewis) Heeder of Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel in Lawai on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. with services at 11 a.m. Cremation will be followed.

Wilfred ‘Chet’ Haruo Chikahiro
Wilfred “Chet” Haruo Chikahiro of Lawai passed away at Queen’s Medical Center on Dec. 31, 2015, at the age of 76. Born on Apr. 30, 1939 in Makaweli, Kauai, he was a crewperson with ITT Federal Service Corporation.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Isamu and Miyuki Chikahiro and sister Alice Yasue.
He is survived by his wife, Lyndel Chikahiro; sons, Brad (Holly) Chikahiro; Chad (Laree) Chikahiro; brother, Richard (Jean) Chikahiro of Torrance, CA; sister, JoAnn Chikahiro of Duarte, CA; three grandchildren, Jase (Jenna), Chelsey, Brandi Chikahiro; two great-grandchildren, Jaedyn, Jasey Chikahiro; and numerous aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016, at Kauai Veterans Cemetery from 9:30 a.m. A memorial service will follow at 10:30 a.m.

Mary ‘Katy’ Kathaleen Kuapahi
Katy Kuapahi of Kekaha passed away at her residence on Dec. 18, 2015 at the age of 74. Born on Aug. 6, 1941 in Yakima, Washington she was a registered nurse with Kauai Veteran’s Memorial Hospital.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Wilma Suave; sister, Theresa Shepard; and brother, Alan Suave.
Katy is survived by her husband, Oric Kupahi; son, David (Shirley) Brown of Anchorage; daughters, Niki Countryman of Anchorage, Kristy (Clayton) Darr of Anchorage and Jory (Justin) Dunlap of Anchorage; seven grandchildren, Craig Darr, Michael Darr, Jalen Dunlap, Jessi Countryman, Lauren Countryman, Heather Darr, and Jorian Dunlap; brothers, William “Bill” (Linda) Sauve of Medford, Oregon and Rocque Sauve of Hilo, Hawai’i; and Brother-in-law, Herman “Gale” (Theresa) Shepard of Eagle Point, Oregon.

Edward ‘Eddie-Big Trucker’ Banasihan Sr.
Edward Aquino Banasihan Sr. of Kapa’a, formerly of McBryde, born on July 15, 1940 in Lihue, Kaua’i, passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Jan. 7, 2016 at the age of 75.
He is preceded in death by his son, Joseph Banasihan; daughter, Virginia; grandson, Kekoa Banasihan; parents, Fidel and Leonora (Villanida) Banasihan; and brothers, Leonard Banasihan and Joseph Banasihan.
Edward is survived by his wife, Priscilla Mae Posten; three sons, Christopher Isaac Kaleinani (Feve) Banasihan of Kalaheo, Edward Aquino Banasihan Jr. of Las Vegas, and Joshua (Samantha) Banasihan; four daughters, Paula (Jerome) Dotimas of Lihue, Andrea-Nalani (Fred Jason Jr.) Land of Lihue, Elisha Lokelani Banasihan of Wailua, and Karmel-Ginger (Victor) Kupihea of Wailua; 11 grandchildren, Sharnelle Dotimas, Isaiah (Courtney) Dotimas, Lacy (Jeff) Batangan; Chelsie Banasihan, Ashley Kahalekai, Keisha Land, Cristyal Banasihan, Isaac Banasihan, Ke’ala Banasihan, Shaniece Banasihan, and Kiara Banasihan; and 11 great-grandchildren, Tashiah Cabresa-Dotimas, Kaiea Cabresa-Dotimas, Zyani Dotimas-Yadao, Adam Martin, Keali’i Dotimas, Jahzi Dotimas-Batangan, Leizjah Dotimas-Batangan, Jairez Dotimas-Batangan, Kailea Caldwell-Banasihan, Zachariah Caldwell-Banasihan, and Kaydence Caldwell-Banasihan.
Also survived by three brothers, Samuel (Bernie) Banasihan of Kekaha, Paul (Roberta) Banasihan of Kekaha, and Richard (Rinda) Banasihan of Kalaheo; two sisters, Patricia “Pat” Banasihan of Kekaha and Annette Meranian of Kekaha; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Marcelino Corpuz Domingo
Marcelino Corpuz Domingo of Kilauea, Kauai passed away at home on Jan. 9, 2016, at the age of 79. He was born in Baccara, Ilocos Norte, Philippines on June 13, 1936, and was a sugar processor with Kilauea Sugar Plantation.
Marcelino is survived by his wife, Leonor Domingo of Kilauea; three sons, Delfin (Kelly) Domingo of South Carolina, Blaine Domingo of Alaska, Ferdinand (Glacy) Marcelino of Hanamaulu; one daughter, Nicki Domingo of Kilauea; 5 grandchildren, Tiffany Domingo of Oahu, Gavin Marcelino and Hilarie Marcelino of Hanamaulu, Keoni Domingo and Makana Domingo of South Carolina; 1 great-grandchild, Natalie Domingo of Oahu.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016, at St. Sylvester Church with viewing from 8 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kilauea Japanese Cemetery.

Wallace Satoru Nakamoto
Wallace Satoru Nakamoto of Hanamaulu passed away in Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Dec. 22, 2015, at the age of 84. He was born in Lihue on June 19, 1931, was a Veteran of the United States Army and was the proprietor of Lihue Appliance.
Preceded in death by his wife, Betty; daughter, Cheryl; parents, Asakichi and Taka Nakamoto; brother, Hajime “Jimmy” Nakamoto, Haruo “Dyna” Nakamoto, Haruki “Dukie” Nakamoto, Masato “Richard” Nakamoto; sister, Namiko “Nancy” Ishizaki.
Wallace is survived by his sons, Lyle (Jean) Nakamoto, Noel Nakamoto, Dan (Teri) Nakamoto; daughter, Kathy (Glenn) Miyashiro, Krissy (Eddie) Taniguchi; 7 grandchildren, Tyler, Sherylann, Corinne, Shaun, Brandan, Jessie Lynn, Hoku; 1 great grandchild, Davian; sisters, Katherine (Shigeo) Higa, Elsie (Samuel) Takata; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Diane Varue Costales
Diane Varue Costales passed away on Dec. 22, 2015 at the age of 75. Born on April 17, 1940, in Pensacola, Florida, she was a Licensed Practical Nurse with Kauai Medical Center.
She is survived by her son, Edwin (Jeanette Gerona) Costales of Waimea; daughter, Patricia A. (Tim) Drury of Makakilo; three grandchildren, Tiffany Costales, Tristan Costless, and Neno Costales; three great-grandchildren, Hau’oli Kanahele, Lilinoe Kanahele, and Xyris Costales; brother, Albert Paulus of California; sister, Florence Hughes of California; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of Diane’s Life will be held at the Kauai Veteran’s Cemetery in Hanapepe on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016. Friends may visit with the family at 10 a.m. with services to follow at 11 a.m.
