Annie Rellin must have the magic touch because her Lady’s Slipper orchid, also known as Cypripedioidea, is thriving inside her office (it feels different now that Earl Nishiguchi is retired) at Kauai Community College. Her plant which she won as a prize from the Family and Community Education even has two more buds coming up, and if you’re really nice, she might let you guess the tune from her revolving floral display.
Nelson Batalion was out with the Student Life crew helping students find their way around the campus, and was it nice to see Alicia Gonzalez back in the grind. Now, we gotta get Tab Matsumoto out to the games again.
Kyoko Ikeda of the Kauai CC International Studies office was busy getting University of the Ryukyus students Shiori Zamami and Naoki Gakkiya oriented during the first day of class. She said Dennis Chun and the crew of the Kauai sailing canoe is getting ready to get the boat ready for the water soon.
Daphne Sanchez (she’s still at the Kauai Community College Bookstore) said she just got back from Okinawa after performing at one of their festivals. She said Okinawa looks just like Kauai except the buildings look a little different.
