Arlene Yoshimori missed out since Gloria West was at the First Hawaiian Bank, Kukui Grove branch to get her free yellow bulb onion seedlings. This was Arlene’s kind of event, Gloria said, but where was Arlene (probably working)? Gutsy Oyama

Gutsy Oyama was able to get back to Waimea in time for the KIF girls basketball game (what happened to the rope barrier?), and Arthur Brun is already thinking of ways to expand this free giveaway.
Basilio Fuertes was totally thrilled that Chantal Zarbaugh came to help them distribute the seedlings, and even Mariah Dias came out to help. Now that the girls all have seedlings, who is going to grow the best onion?
Kudos to Sherri Sanchez Holcomb on a great car and bike show fundraiser Saturday at the North Vidinha fields. Laurie Yoshida (where is she not at?) was busy helping along with Marynell Valenzuela (oh, one of the Singapore-bound dancers is a Valenzuela), and it was nice to see members of the Iron Circle (where was the rain?) eyeing some of the fancy wheels on display.
Sherri said the Excel dancers will be heading to Singapore when school lets out for the summer break to compete as well as learn about the culture in that area.
