Not buying CEO’s claim about airfares
So Hawaiian Airlines CEO say they’re doing everything possible to keep airfares low. Hmmm, maybe we need to define what’s “low.”
I wanted to travel to Oahu this past Christmas to visit my family but the airfare was utterly ridiculous! Round-trip for two was in excess of $860 and that’s without all the add on fees or taxes! $860-plus for a 20-minute coach flight! And this during a time when fuel costs are at one of its lowest points all year.
Sorry, but I think it’s just good ole fashion price gouging to me. How come prices go through the roof during the holidays only? Same thing during spring break.
I have no problem with them making a profit but why do fares skyrocket at a time when travel volume is high, considering the average traveler is on a tight budget? I really miss Island Air. Their fares were reasonable and service was very good. Might have to start flying Pigeon Airlines. LOL.

Love for Kauai keeps growing
Why do I love Kauai? Thirty five years ago I came here on my honeymoon and fell in love with the island and more important, the people. I have been returning almost every year and the past few years for two months.
This year, I had a reason to go to Wilcox hospital. Lucky me the staff in the emergency was absolutely amazing kind considerate over the top. Cory the nurse, Dr. Schumacher, Viki, all the staff whose names I didn’t get to know, thank you. How lucky you are to have this fabulous hospital right here in Lihue.
Thank you for adding a new dimension to my love of Kauai. Even though I went in in pain, I came out with a warm aloha spirit and embrace how fortunate I was to have this experience.
Thank you and happy new year.
