How are your New Year’s resolutions going so far? Ours? Well, one of the resolutions nearly all of us make (including us) is to “get into better shape this year.” Hearin’ the groans?
Yet one of the best ways for anyone to gently get back into a stronger, more limber body is through yoga. You may already be doing this, or thinking about doing it (or not), but one of the great things about yoga is that it is accessible to someone who has hardly ever exercised, all the way to people who are able to do poses just like you see on the cover of this book. Though this may look like a daunting pose, it is only an example to show you how far you can go if you so desire.
With “Yoga Girl,” author Rachel Brathen gives us not only a well-presented guide to the basic staple of moves, stretches and positions for both beginner and advanced, she provides a very personal and engaging story of how she came from a place of dissatisfaction and found her way to a happier, more peaceful and more vibrant life through discovering yoga and making it a part of her daily life. From this journey, she has not only changed her life, she has helped to inspire others to do the same, using social media as well.
“Yoga Girl” provides us with step-by-step movements along with thoughts to encourage a peaceful outlook and positive state of mind. Rachel has also included several of her own personal food and beverage recipes that help to nourish both mind and body.
All in all, “Yoga Girl” is an excellent example of helping us to remember that no matter what’s going on, you can always make a change for the better — right now.
