Happy New Year, but Cynthia Justus of Talk Story Bookstore celebrated her birthday the day after Christmas (yes, they had Hanapepe Friday Art Night on Christmas, too).
Chef Baby Sloane Peterson was busy practicing to be an order taker Friday night (yes, they had Hanapepe Friday Art Night on New Year’s, too) at the Kickshaw’s food trailer (they ran out of food at the Poipu Beach Park New Year’s Eve event). Kickshaw’s Creative Director Paulette Peterson said they’ll be doing a special Saturday at 3540 Koloa Road, Lawai Warehouse, since they just got their liquor license. The fun, entertainment and food starts from about 5 p.m. and runs until 9 p.m.
Not all the places were open, but Ursa Swift and the Midnight Bear Breads people were crowded (first time they ran out early during the Kauai Community Market Saturday) and Helen Lacono had her four kettles of soup, but where was the soup lady?
Alan Van Zee said he got the best deal for the New Year’s Eve bash at Poipu since he was asked by Roberta Kable to tickle the keyboards for their party and got to watch the festivities from the Kable’s deck. He had his full supply of shakes and goodies at the Hanapepe event, and even made it to the Saturday Kauai Community Market (what kind of shochu did Sandi Kato-Klutke have at the party?).
