Civil Air Patrol Col. Roger Caires was named the Hawaii Civil Air Patrol Member of the Year for 2015 Saturday during the Hawaii Wing of the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary Annual Conference in Honolulu.
The top members of the Hawaii CAP were recognized during this conference. The Hawaii CAP Member of the Year award recognizes Caires for his life long contributions to the Civil Air Patrol.
Caires has 56 years of CAP membership service and serves as the squadron commander of the Kauai Composite Squadron based at the Lihue Airport with three aircraft supported by 80 cadet and senior members.
He served two terms as the Hawaii Wing Commander and has held a number of positions at the local and wing levels.
Serving as an incident commander, pilot, and FAA-certified flight instructor, Caires has worked on many emergency service missions at the Kauai level and Hawaii wing level.
He is the owner of CLS Hawaii Land Surveying and is the senior land surveyor for Kamehameha Schools.
