Willie could use some Christmas cheer. He lives in a care home with no immediate family on the island. The majority of his monthly income goes to pay for his care home with just a minimal amount for personal necessities.

He lives in a care home with no immediate family on the island. The majority of his monthly income goes to pay for his care home with just a minimal amount for personal necessities.
While he is alone during the holidays, it doesn’t take much to make him happy. He loves to read and receiving new books and magazines would lift his spirits this season.
Then, there is Samantha, who is battling health problems. She lives with her daughter and extended family in a two-bedroom home. Her income helps to pay the rent and purchase food. She has arthritis and other health issues that require medication. She could appreciate a new comforter and some new clothes to unwrap on Christmas morning.
Those are just two people who will benefit from The Garden Island/Zonta Christmas Fund, an avenue for everyone to provide assistance to people like Willie and Samantha.
Donations are distributed by Zonta Club members, who purchase gift certificates at appropriate businesses to make wishes come true.
Each donated dollar is accounted for and recorded. There are no administrators collecting salaries.
Anyone making a donation of $50 or more can have their picture presenting the check published in TGI.
Checks, payable to Zonta Club of Kauai Foundation, can be mailed to P.O. Box 3032, Lihue, HI 96766. Info: 822-9882.
