Some children are struggling this Christmas season and would welcome understanding and hope.
Jane is an adopted child who excels in some of the more difficult subjects in school. She and her mother have grown apart since Jane entered high school.
Jane has become increasingly difficult for her mother and is at risk of dropping out of school.
Her mother feels helpless and has turned to community resources for help, but up to this point nothing has improved their circumstances. Her daughter needs understanding and support, but most of all, empowerment from her mother as well as the system.
TGI/Zonta Christmas Fund is an avenue for everyone to help people like Jane.
Donations are distributed by Zonta Club members, who purchase gift certificates at appropriate businesses to make wishes come true.
Each donated dollar is accounted for and recorded. There are no administrators collecting salaries.
Through Christmas Eve, The Garden Island will share stories about families (we don’t use their real names) facing challenges and who would appreciate a little help.
Anyone making a donation of $50 or more can have their picture presenting the check published in TGI. If you hold a fundraiser for the Christmas Fund, let us know and we’ll spread the word.
Only monetary donations are accepted. Checks, payable to Zonta Club of Kauai Foundation, can be mailed to P.O. Box 3032, Lihue, HI 96766. Info: 822-9882.
