PUHI — Carol Ann Davis was ecstatic Friday morning at the Natural Pet Hawaii store in the Puhi Industrial Park.
“We just adopted two animals,” Davis said. “I need to meet one of the new parents at the Kauai Humane Society to finish up the paperwork.”
A handful of volunteers from the Kauai Humane Society accompanied a selection of dogs and cats looking for forever homes Friday.
Animals adopted through Monday will have fees waived by the humane society. Having the animals available for free was just another feather in the Black Friday offerings for the pet supply outlet.
“We’ll be at Petco on Saturday with an assortment of animals, both canine and feline,” said Allison Jacobson, a KHS volunteer, and also with the Kauai Animal Welfare Society.
Adoptions include a microchip, spay/neuter and appropriate vaccinations.
Animals will be available for viewing at the Kauai Humane Society from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today and Monday. It is closed on Sunday.
Some of the cats available for adoption will be at Petco from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., today, Sunday, and Monday.
The online company, Zappos, is underwriting the free adoptions program.
