“We’re looking for some sale items at DejaVu Surf Hawaii,” Katrina Sahut said. “We’ve got to come back Friday when they open at 7 a.m. because there are other items, which are not on sale now.”
“We’ll be back,” Sahut said. “This is only starting. We’ll be back, again, and again.”
DejaVu Surf Hawaii was just one of several Kukui Grove merchants to offer early bird markdowns during the build up to Black Friday. Many shoppers, like Sahut, said they would visit the shopping center multiple times over the Thanksgiving holiday week to take advantage of day-specific specials.
Elsewhere at at shopping center on Wednesday, Carrice Caspillo Gardner, the governor’s liason, lamented her broken iPhone.
“I never drop these things,” Gardner said. “I dropped my insurance, and today, I dropped the phone. But Mindy is so busy, she won’t be able to work on my phone until Monday, so I just got some tape so the glass won’t fall out.”
Mindy Hibbitts’ service is new to the mall. On Wednesday, she worked on a slew of cell phones.
“Everyone’s dropping their phone today,” Hibbitts said. “When I’m not fixing phones, the Kendama is back again. It’s been really popular with the Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School kids.”
