LIHUE — Traffic was disrupted briefly Monday morning at the Oceanic Time Warner Cable facility as Keith Ruiz manned the forklift to load a pallet of food collected by the Oceanic employees for the Hawaii Foodbank, Kauai Branch.
“This disruption is not intentional,” said Marlene Matutino, Oceanic manager. “But the food must go. Our goal was to collect at least 1,000 pounds. I hope we make it.”
One of the reasons for the surge in customer traffic must be because of all the television sets which are now on pre-Black Friday sale, offered one of the Oceanic warehouse crew.
“When people get TVs, this is one of the first stops they make,” Matutino said. “Sometimes, even before they get home.”
Michelle Panoke, Hawaii Foodbank, Kauai Branch administrative supervisor, said Oceanic need not worry because the total weight for the food drive came in at 1,004 pounds.
