Films that highlight Hawaii, Micronesia and other parts of Polynesia will be featured in the inaugural Garden Island Film Festival that runs Friday to Sunday.
The doors open each evening at 5 p.m. A pre-screening of a film by a Kauai Community College student will be presented at 6 p.m., followed by a feature film with the respective director or a representative introducing his work.
The festival will open on Friday with a free showing of “Papa Mau” directed by Na‘alehu Anthony on the Great Lawn at the Westin Princeville Ocean Resort Villas. Bring a beach chair or a mat.
On Saturday, “The Haumana” directed by Keo Woolford will be shown at the Kauai Community College Performing Arts Center. Admission is $5.
On Sunday, the Waimea Theatre will host the closing night feature, “Visions in the Dark: The Life of Pinky Thompson” directed by Ty Sanga. Admission is $5.
