Road cleanup much appreciated
I want to thank the many young men and women who volunteered their time and energy to beautify, refresh and clean the
shoulders of Nawiliwili Road last Saturday, Nov. 14. Your efforts did not go unnoticed.

Manifest peace now
With all the nonsense going on wars, violence etc., it very ironic nothing is being done. So many innocent lives lost because too much hate, envy, jealousy, anger and rage in the world. Gun control needs to be a serious issue and a peaceful solution must be created as wars cost too much. I don’t know but in my opinion too many people are plagued by the darkness of their own insecurities. The apocalypse is here and only idiots sit down and do nothing. Hate all you want, but hate will never create peace.
In closing, remember what Jesus said: “Return ye not evil for evil but return evil with good.”
May more people wake up from the trance.

Airlines, take heed
If we are to keep the tourist count from going up further, we must stop the increase in the number of airlines seats available. Hawaiian, Alaska, United, American and others book flights directly into Lihue. Additional flights connect through Honolulu.
Hawaiian has been expanding to China, Japan and Korea, and expansion costs cash. The cost of new airplanes adds to capital, it doesn’t subtract from profit though it does subtract from the cash available to run the airline. Stopping expansion solves the airlines cash problem and could lead the way to lower fares. Further, it keeps our tourist problem from getting bigger.
Another thing the airlines could do to help our problem is to show the KLA video on ocean safety to the passengers before landing on Kauai. By the time visitors arrive in the baggage area, they are too busy searching for bags, greeting friends, or just too excited to take heed.
Whenever I am in the baggage area of the airport, I make a nuisance of myself asking people to please view the video playing there. Knowing about ocean safety saves lives and it also saves us money by not having to rescue so many people.

Kadee an inspiration to all
Thanks to The Garden Island for placing Kadee Parubrub’s article on the front page (Nov. 11). These are the best kinds of news and people about which people need to read. In a culture where most children are asking, “What’s in it for me?” it is so inspiring to see young ones who are looking beyond themselves and concerned about others. God bless Kadee and God bless her parents for the values being instilled within their family.
