The film, “This Changes Everything” that looks at climate change will be shown at 6 p.m. Saturday and again Sunday, Nov. 22, at Kauai Community College cafeteria.
It is free and sponsored by Apollo Kauai.
Inspired by Naomi Klein’s international non-fiction bestseller “This Changes Everything,” the film presents seven portraits of communities from Montana’s Powder River Basin to the Alberta Tar Sands, from the coast of South India to Beijing.
“Interwoven with these stories of struggle is Klein’s narration, connecting the carbon in the air with the economic system that put it there,” according to a press release.
The film was shot in 211 days over four years in nine countries and five continents.
“Empowering, rather than terrifying, this captivating film will leave one refreshed and inspired, reflecting on the ties between us, the kind of lives we really want, and why the climate crisis is at the center of it all,” the release said. “Will this film change everything? Absolutely not. But you could, by answering its call to action.”
Promoters of the film said that unusually hot, sticky weather and heavy tropical rainfall plagued Hawaii in late summer and early fall of this year. That, they said, is a sign of a changing climate.
