LIHUE — The Ki-ho’alu Foundation is hosting the 23rd annual Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar Festival “Kaua’i Style” on Nov. 15 at the Aqua Kauai Beach Resort and Spa from noon to 6 p.m.
Performers in this year’s festival include Garden Island artists Paul Togioka, Cindy Combs, Norman Kaawa, Michael Keale, and Doug and Sandy McMaster. From the island of Oahu will be Brother Noland, Bobby Moderow, Kawika Kahiapo, Stephen Inglis, Danny Carvalho, Donald Kaulia, Dwight Kanae, and Ian O’Sullivan. Musician/artist LT Smooth from the Big Island will also participate.
The festival began in 1992 to celebrate, promote, perpetuate and preserve Hawaii’s 185-year-old indigenous guitar art form that has its origin on Hawaii Island in 1830.
Admission is $10 at the door only, with proceeds benefiting the Ki-ho’alu Foundation.
