KOLOA — The Kauai Vicariate will be celebrating its second Ohana Mass at St. Raphael’s Church at 11:45 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 15.
Ohana Mass is to let persons with disabilities and special needs celebrate Mass together with their families and friends. People with special needs can serve as altar servers, lectors, eucharistic ministers, greeters, and ushers, enabling them to be stewards in their faith community. They can also enjoy the Mass without worrying about being too noisy or causing disturbances.
People who use walkers and wheelchairs, and persons with Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, autism spectrum disorder, deafness, and blindness are encouraged to be present and to participate in Ohana Mass.
Fellowship and refreshments will follow the Mass, and those attending are encouraged to bring a favorite potluck dish to share.
The Rev. Antonio Abuan, current pastor of Holy Cross Parish, will preside at the Mass.
The first Ohana Mass was celebrated on Oct. 18.
