PUHI — County officials said Friday paving work in the Hulu Manu subdivision in the Kawaihau district is complete. As part of the ongoing Islandwide Road Resurfacing project, the contractor will continue work in the Puhi area beginning Monday.
The sequence of roads slated for resurfacing are Haleukana Street, Hanahao Place and Hanalima Street, as well as a portion of Puhi Road, from Kaneka Street to Hanalima Street.
This phase of the project is expected to be complete in early December. From there, contractors will move to Maka Road in Kalaheo and Piko Road in Lawai.
Grace Pacific was awarded a $1.9 million contract for the Islandwide Road Resurfacing project, which began on Sept. 28. The project will be finished by the end of the year, weather permitting.
Another upcoming Public Works project is the Puhi Road Rehabilitation project, which will span from Kaumualii Highway to Kaneka Street. The roadway will be reconstructed using Portland Cement Concrete to better support traffic from heavy trucks. Other improvements will include the addition of sidewalks and bike lanes as well as drainage improvements.
The year-long project is scheduled to start in January.
