Sharla Hasegawa, enjoying her final day of work after 19 years as the occupational therapist at the Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital, said she loved all the people and got a lot more than she was able to give. She got a farewell lei and hug from Melody Pascua (she’s a veteran!).
Josie Pablo said Sharla (how many of you remember Nemo?) has been one of her right hands in a lot of the residents’ memorable events, including participating in the Veterans Day parade, the beach outings, the Lights on Rice holiday parade, and many more.
Sharla and Elaine Morita were not animals Friday. Instead, they came as hippies, and we won’t say what Elaine found in her bag. Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. stopped off to thank the hospital for letting his relatives visit during their stay on Kauai, and Maddie Jimenez said Karin was getting ready for the Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital craft fair.
Congratulations to Oscar Montejo (he was a lost tourist), Maria Otani (she got dressed by Maddie), Helen Nishimura and Margaret Ponce (her son was one of the KPD officers of the month!) on catching the judges’ eye during the costume judging.
