Kapaa High School’s varsity girls volleyball team defeated Hawaii Preparatory Academy of the Big Island Interscholastic Federation, 2-1, in the consolation final of the New City Nissan Girls Volleyball Championships — Division II state tournament.
The Warrior wahine won, 21-25, 25-17 and 15-5, Friday afternoon at Farrington High School on Oahu.
Senior outside hitter Haaheo Mahinai was Kapaa’s leading scorer with 10 kills. Senior backside hitter Tori Daligcon-Pomaikai and sophomore middle blocker Tupou Paua each had seven kills. Paua also had two blocks.
Senior setter Kunani Tuttle had 30 assists. Junior libero Kainani Moniz had 12 digs.
Kapaa finished the season with a 13-4 record, going 11-3 in Kauai Interscholastic Federation action.
Kapaa head coach Evan Costa couldn’t be reached for comment following Friday’s match.
